SEAS OF CONSTRUCTION

Seas of Construction examines the temporary landscapes produced by rapid urbantransformation.

Across expanding cities in Asia, vast areas of disturbed ground are covered withprotective meshes and fabrics. Intended as functional devices  to contain dust, stabilizesoil, or conceal construction sites. These surfaces unexpectedly transform the territory. Draped over excavated land, they resemble seas, fields, dunes and artificial topographies.

Photographed alongside housing developments, infrastructure and unfinished urbanfragments, these temporary surfaces blur the distinction between landscape and construction. What appears natural is manufactured; what appears permanent is oftenprovisional.

Rather than documenting individual building sites, Seas of Construction looks at themoment when the process of urbanization itself becomes a landscape.
